Abstract:

Background and Aim: Medical students, as the largest group of health care providers, should be able to combine their technical skills and professional knowledge to diagnose patients' problems and use it to take a big step towards reducing errors and increase the quality of care. For this reason, a study was conducted to investigate the relationship between health literacy and Computer literacy among medical students in Torbat Heydariyeh in 2018. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study with a descriptive-analytical approach was performed in the middle half of 2018 on 201 students of Torbat Heydariyeh University of Medical Sciences (THUMS), who were selected by multi-stage sampling method. Data were collected using the Iranian Adult Health literacy Questionnaire (HELIA) and the Computer literacy Questionnaire. Then, the data were analyzed with SPSS software, using descriptive statistics and Chi-square test. Results: In this study, 175 subjects (87. 1%) were female and the rest were male. The mean and standard deviation of age were 21. 52± 1. 30 and 17. 11± 0/99, respectively. The results of multivariate linear regression showed that the variable dimensions of Computer literacy could predict up to 63% of changes in students' health literacy score. The results also showed that the dimensions of basic skills, frequency of Computer use and self-assessment of working skills with Windows had a significant relationship with students' health literacy (P<0. 05). Conclusion: Considering the results, it is suggested that the necessary measures be taken to increase students' Computer literacy by holding workshops and Update educational content in universities; in this way, a step towards increasing Computer literacy and consequently, increasing the health literacy of students can be taken.

Abstract:

Introduction: Nowadays, in order to implement E-learning, we should be aware of the students’ Computer literacy before taking further steps. The purpose of this study was to evaluate Computer literacy among students of Dehloran Payam-e- Noor University (PNU).Materials and Methods: The following research is a descriptive study carried out, using the survey method. The statistical population consisted of 1823 students studying at Dehloran PNU in 2014, of whom 318 (109 males and 209 females) were selected, using Morgan and Krejcie table and the stratified sampling. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. The validity of the questionnaire was verified by the experts and its reliability was found to be 0.92, using Cronbach's Alpha. The data were analyzed through Kolmogorov Smirnov test, sample T and Friedman test, using the SPSS software, version 17.Results: The results showed that the Dehloran PNU students’ Computer literacy was not desirable. Also, based on the priority of Computer skills of the students, most students were familiar with the basic concepts of information technology, with an average of 6.80 and their minimal familiarity with the database was 1.74.Conclusion: Given the vision of PMU, i.e. higher education for everybody, everywhere and every time, it is essential that policymakers and planners of the Payam-e- Noor University pay special attention to promoting Computer skills of the students.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of Computer literacy among the teachers of public high schools in Khorramabad city. The present study is an applied research which uses descriptive-survey method for data collection purposes. The statistical population of the study consisted of all the teachers of public high schools (level 1) in Khorramabad city (N=1083) in the academic year of 1397-98. The sample of the study was selected based on cluster sampling procedure, using Krejcy Morgan's (1970) table (N=411). To analyze the data, independent-samples T-test, Friedman rank test, and one-way analysis of variance were used. The data collection instrument was a researcher-made Computer literacy questionnaire. The results of the research showed that in general, teachers rated their Computer literacy lower than the average, and their skills in using the Internet and WORD were higher than other Computer skills. There was no meaningful relationship between the level of Computer literacy and the demographic characteristics of the target sample, including gender, teaching experience and academic qualifications.

Abstract:

The present research aimed to study the relationship between cultural intelligence and Computer literacy with classroom management style among Shahid Rajaee teacher training university students. Statistical population was all teacher students of Shahid Rajaee teacher training university (800 people). According to Klein (2005), sample size concluded 330 teachers (153 male and 177 female), who were selected through simple random sampling method. Three questionnaires included Cultural Intelligence (CQ), Computer literacy Self Assessment Scale (CLSAS) and classroom management styles were applied. The reliability of these questionnaires has been 0.97, 0.98 and 0.85 respectively. The statistical method, in order to analizing data, included descriptive statistic (mean, percent, frequency) and inferential statistic (logistic regression). Results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between strategic and behavioral cultural intelligence and teacher-centered classroom management style. A positive significant relationship between Computer literacy and student-centered classroom management style. Strategic and behavioral cultural intelligence and Computer literacy predicts teachers interactional classroom management style in.

Abstract:

Background: Formerly in societies, literacy only implied reading and writing skills. Gradually, the industrial 20th century turned into the information era of the 21st century. Accordingly, to survive in the present world, we need to have information literacy. Acquiring information technology (IT) is an indispensable part of literacy. The current research aims to investigate the correlation of access to Computer/internet system and paramedical students’ information literacy at Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, in 2015. Materials and Methods: In the present descriptive, cross-sectional research conducted in 2015, 229 paramedical students who entered university during 2012-2014 were selected through a clustered sampling method. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire already developed and used in the previous research (11). It was comprised of two sections: a demographic and an information literacy section. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson test, as well as independent-sample t-test, were applied via SPSS (version 16). Result: Totally, 86. 9% and 85. 2% of participants had access to Computer and internet systems, respectively. A significant difference was found between access to Computers and information literacy as well as between information literacy and academic degree (P<0. 05). Among the domains investigated, the health-related IT group was found to have the highest literacy level. Conclusion: The results of the research indicated a correlation between access to net and information literacy. Therefore, providing for IT infrastructures is suggested for promoting information literacy.
